POEM: I Wish I Never Knew You By Hafsah Oluwatobi Mosuro

I wish I never knew you,

And I never met your eyes.

I wish I never heard your voice,

And never felt your sighs.

I wish our paths had never crossed,

And we never met at all.

If only I had turned away,

I wouldn't be in this stall.

I know it's not what you wanted,

And it's not what I meant.

But now that we've both been hurt,

We've both been heaven-sent.

I know I can't turn back time,

Or undo what we've done.

But now I see what I've become,

And it's not what I've become.

I wish I could erase these memories,

And start my life anew.

But I know that's not possible,

It's something I can't do.

So all I can do is move forward,

And make the best of this.

I know it won't be easy,

But it's something I insist.

I hope that one day we can laugh,

About this time in our lives.

I hope we can smile and reminisce,

About the tears and the strife.

I hope we can look back and realize,

That it all worked out for the best.

That we learned something from this time,

And we both passed the test.

So even though it's hard to see,

The light at the end of the tunnel.

I know that one day we'll look back,

And see how much we've grown.

We'll see how much we've changed,

How much we've evolved.

We'll realize that we're stronger,

For having gone through this ordeal.

And we'll be thankful that we met,

Even though it didn't feel real.

We'll realize that we're blessed,

To have had this chance to know.

That we're better people for it,

And our love will continue to grow.

So as I end this poem,

I hope you understand.

That even though it's been hard,

We'll get through it as planned.

We'll be stronger than ever,

With a love that's true.

And we'll know that we're blessed,

For having had this time with you.

So even though it's been tough,

And our hearts are full of pain.

We'll be thankful for the lessons,

And all that we have gained.

I WISH I NEVER KNEW YOU
