POEM: Unbroken Strides By Hafsah Oluwatobi Mosuro

"Unbroken Strides: 64 Years of Freedom"

Today, we rise, with hearts aglow

Sixty-four years of freedom, our story to grow

From the shadows of colonial night

We stepped into sunlight, with all our might

We remember the tears, the struggles and pain

The sacrifices made, the blood and the stain

But we also celebrate, the victories won

The courage of our heroes, forever etched in our bones

We see the faces, of our children's smiles

Their laughter echoing, their dreams in miles

Their future shining, like the morning dew

A new generation, with hope anew

Our mothers' prayers, our fathers' toil

Their sweat and labor, our nation's soil

Their dreams for us, their love so true

We honor their legacy, forever shining through

From the hills of Jos, to the Niger Delta's shore

We are Nigeria, forever more

Our diversity, a tapestry so fine

A weave of cultures, intertwined like a vine

We are the resilient, the strong and brave

We are the hopeful, the ones who crave

A better tomorrow, a brighter day

For every child, every woman, every way

Today, we pledge, to hold hands tight

To build a nation, where love takes flight

Where education shines, healthcare thrives

And every child, can reach and survive

Nigeria, our beloved home

We'll work together, to make you whole

Happy 64th Independence Day

May our unity, forever be the way.
