HOW TO MAKE POUNDED YAM
Poundo yam is a popular Nigerian dish made from pounded yams 🥔. Here's a simple recipe to make poundo yam:
Ingredients:
- 2-3 large yams 🥔
- 1 cup of water 💧
Instructions:
1️⃣ Peel the yams and boil them in a large pot of water until they're soft 🍲.
2️⃣ Drain the water and let the yams cool down ❄️.
3️⃣ Use a mortar and pestle or a yam pounder to pound the yams until they're smooth and stretchy 🥊.
5️⃣ Knead the pounded yam for a few minutes until it's smooth and pliable 🌮.
6️⃣ Shape the pounded yam into small balls or cylinders 🌯.
7️⃣ Serve with your favorite soup or stew 🍲.
Tips:
- Use high-quality yams that are fresh and firm 🥔.
- Don't over-pound the yams, as they can become too soft and sticky 🤯.
- Adjust the amount of water to achieve the right consistency for pounding 💧.
- You can also add a little bit of palm oil or vegetable oil to the pounded yam to give it a richer flavor 💦.
