HOW TO PREPARE IKOKORE
Ikokore is a traditional Nigerian dish made from water yam! π₯π΄ Here's a simple recipe to prepare ikokore:
Ingredients:
- 2-3 water yams π₯
- 1 onion, chopped π
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced π‘
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger πΏ
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin ❗️
- Salt and pepper, to taste ❗️
- 2 tablespoons palm oil π§
- 2 cups water π§
Instructions:
1. Peel the water yams and grate them into a bowl π₯.
2. Heat the palm oil in a pan over medium heat π₯.
3. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan and sautΓ© until the onion is translucent π³.
4. Add the grated water yam to the pan and stir well π₯.
5. Add the ground cumin, salt, and pepper to the pan and stir well ❗️.
6. Add the water to the pan and bring to a boil π§.
7. Reduce heat to low and simmer the ikokore mixture for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally ⏰.
8. Serve the ikokore hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs (optional) πΏ.
